1:38 am - What Kind of Boots Are You?
|
| You Are Cowboy Boots | You are incredibly down to earth and happy with yourself. You don't pretend to be someone else. You also tend to be very practical. You don't really have a lot of room for fluff in your life.
You are a very honest and direct person. You will give anyone a straight answer, even if it's a bit uncomfortable. While you're quite sensible, you always like a little bit of flash in your life. You don't overdo it, but you do like turning heads. |

Your result for What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test... Conscientious, Fulfilled, and Spiritual22 Renaissance, 18 Islamic, -2 Ukiyo-e, -35 Cubist, -34 Abstract and 14 Impressionist!
The Renaissance was a cultural movement that profoundly affected European intellectual life. Beginning in Italy, and spreading to the rest of Europe by the 16th century, its influence affected literature, philosopy, religion, art, politics, science, and all other aspects of intellectual enquiry. Renaissance artists looked at the human aspect of life in their art. They did not reject religion but tended to look at it in it's purest form to create visions they thought depicted the ideals of religion. Painters of this time had their own style and created works based on morality, religion, and human nature. Many of the paintings depicted what they believed to be the corrupt nature of man. People that like Renaissance paintings like things that are more challenging. They tend to have a high emotional stability. They also tend to be more concientious then average. They have a basic understanding of human nature and therefore are not easily surprised by anything that people may do. They enjoy life and enjoy living. They are very aware of their own mortality but do not dwell on the end but what they are doing in the present. They enjoy learning, but may tend to be a bit more closed minded to new ideas as they feel that the viewpoint they have has been well researched and considered. These people are more old fashioned and not quite as progressive. They enjoy the finer things in life like comfort, a good meal, and homelife. They tend to be more spiritual or religious by nature. They are open to new aesthetic experiences. Take What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test at HelloQuizzy

9:14 pm - Virgin trip to San Francisco!!
|
Tomorrow I bord the plain to San Francisco for my maiden Voyage. It should be exciting on many levels ,mostly because i am seeing it for the first time with lthrfan , soundbear, and txbearwood. I am attending the ILSLb contest/confab. So in between all the hunky men , I will be riding the trollies, looking for ChinaTown, Knob Hill, the Lonestar saloon, and the Golden Gate Bridge, I know I will not be able to see every thing, but sure going to pack as much into it as I can. I feel like a kid heading to the candy store, and if I don't get to taste anything, I at Least can LOOK. HEHE . So if you see a Black cowboy hat wondering around SF, come say HOWDY, plan on using my best TEXAS accent as much as I can, hey it works for British and the Aussies

1:33 pm - Life goes on.
|
Well I am well into 2 months working on my own, and it is coming together somewhat. Bills are paid, food on the table, and still have a few dollars for some drinks with friends at the Hidden Door. I have been having a fight with myself, I have a job opportunity to work with the King Tut Exhibit coming to Dallas for 9 months. When I interviewed back in August I told them my availablity was practically anytime. In the meantime I was given the gift of a lifetime, A good friend wangled a free ticket to San Fancisco for 5 days during October. I got he job offer but they were not happy with me taking that much time off when the exhibit starts on Oct 3rd. Well I was prepared to give up the job offer if it came to that. I explained that to change plans now would cost me almost $300 and I REALLY WANTED this trip. They seemed to have liked me enough to bite the bullet and give me the Time off. I really am not one to demand or draw a line in the sand. More often than not my insecurities play out so that im a go along get along ,anything the job requires. Hopefully it will all be worth it.
This will be my VIRGIN tour of S F and west of West Texas for that matter. So Plan on playing up my Texas accent and cowboy hat on the Csstro. If any of you see a bewildered looking cowboy walking along like a kid in a candy store, stop and say HOWDY!
I want to travel, but my pragmatic streak always surfaces and says, "You know that you will need that money for something in your day to day life" OK I will stay home. This time I believe I was ment to go and have fun. And by fun i mean, see the sights, ride the trolly cars, eat at fishermans warf, and have a drink at the Lonestar at least, anything else if just gravey. I will be with good friends on the trip, and am sure i will see others that I have chatted with but never got to meet. Just color me Giddy.
Ok its PRIDE Sunday in Dallas, I have missed the parade, and am heading to the Hidden Door while i still can find parking. Peace

I just love Accents, they can excite me or melt my butter. </form> Southern. Love it or hate it, your accent says you're probably from somewhere south of the Ohio River.
If you're not from the South, you probably were overanalyzing the questions. Take the quiz again but don't think so hard next time. Take this quiz now - it's easy!

8:22 pm - Defying Gravity
|
Well its been a while since I posted, and I am in a reflective mood so here goes nothing.
My life is in limbo again it seems, but I hope that I have a hold of the broomstick and can indeed defy gravity. After working in one place for 4 years doing massage and hating the situation after about 2 years, I have been pushed out to fend for myself. I am the type of person that I must be forced to change even tho i know it is the best thing for me. I don't like change, I don't like confrontation, and I don't like the unknown. But reality bites and I am on the move.
With the help of some good people I have resurrected my Massage website, started Advertising, and am looking to the future whatever that brings. It is not the best time with the economy and all, but then again, when is it ever a good time to fly into the storm. I have a pair of patroness saints that i can count on for some work , and I hope with a little hustle I can make things work. I am going to do out call massage for now. I have had my eye out for a place in Dallas to offer in calls ,but when I put pencil to paper( gotta SEE the figures) it just doesn't work.
So I will go along for a few weeks, and even look for some part time retail work, it might be Sept when the kids go back to work before i find something like that. I just keep the wicked song in my mind. As with all my Upheaval's in life I have been visited by a song that leads me thru the darkness. With that and the support of my Family of Choice I will survive.
And to those of you who read this, THANK YOU for your support. Ok, back on the broom stick and into the western sky....

You are 93% REAL Texan!! High five, you're a complete Texan. People from other states should tremble in your presence because they're simply not worthy. Let them bow before you and convey their undying adoration to you while they announce their true desire to be Texan.

2:05 pm - Fall comes to Texas
|
Fall comes to Texas!!
Well about the only way we have in Texas of marking the changing of the seasons is by Calendar and Special Events. For Fall we all realize its here when the State Fair of Texas (www.bigtex.com)Opens. This means Football, RAIN and cooler weather. Now this year Cooler means under 95 degrees. LOL
The State Fair of Texas is a Big Thing for North Texas, It Brings back memories of being small and going to a big event with your friends that for the most part was safe and Exciting. Its where Country Life comes to the Big City. Under the watchful eyes of BIG TEX, 4 H groups bring there beloved projects to town , Ladies Can all sorts of things ,okra, preserves, jellies, or there special sewing talents, Pies ,Cakes Cobblers, all in hopes of winning a blue ribbon to be oohed and awwed over by the friends back home.
And we can't ignore the Food for Sale at the State Fair. Fletchers Corney Dogs are a MUST have each year. This year in addition there is DEEP FRIED Bananna Pudding, Cookie Doe ,and Guacamole bites, and Peach Cobbler , Deep Fried is a Tradition . And of course its all FAT FREE and The Few Calories they do have can be spent walking around . LOL.
Being someone who has a interest in Texas History, this is a LIVE and LIVING History that brings people from all walks of life together for one thing, FUN. Enough of this time for a Corney Dog and Hmmmm that waffle with the whipped cream is calling me .....

11:17 am - Loss for Texas
|
Claudia Alta "LadyBird" Johnson I am not sure if it is because I am a native of Texas, or that She was as important to others as me, But I am gripped by a since of Loss at the Death of LadyBird.
She embodied to me all that was good about Texas. Southern Charm, Lilt in the voice, Love of Nature,Beauty, and Hard as Nails on the inside. She overcame her shyness to speak for the things near and dear to her heart. She Rose to the Top ,over many hardships and personal conflicts. Now I don't have Lady Bird on TOO high of a pedestal as she would be the first to knock that down to ground level, She took the lemons that were given her and made Lemonade!.
She and my father were born at the same year, so she was like family in a way. She came from a wealthy family and had all the privliage of money and status, unlike my father who was born into a family of meger means , But if the two had ever met, I'm sure she would have been able to talk about the lakes of East Texas, the fields , the flowers , and the people of home.
I never got to actually Meet Lady Bird, I did get to see her about 6 years ago while visiting the Wild Flower Center outside of Austin that she founded. Even after having the stroke, and recovering she still had the dignity of spirit and life that means a Survivor. She was attended by a aid and a Secret Service agent, but they looked more like children with a elderly parent, helping keep her comfortable and in the moment.
Lady Bird was a figure that all Texans could look to for a center point. Where else but in the United States ,could a girl from small town Texas ,wind up meeting the leaders of the world, make HER own fortune, and still provide for the Common man? Every TEXAN who sees a wild flower on the highway thinks of Lady Bird. I just Hope that memory will carry on.
Texas has so few classy public figures these days, Most are out for themselves and the almighty Dollar. We have lost a great Lady ,a Great Texan, and a great Woman of the World. Rest in Peace Faithful servant, Well Done, WELL DONE!

Your overall weirdness is: 22(The average level of weirdness is: 27. You are weirder than 49% of other LJers.)

8:53 pm - LUEY
|
Well LUEY here in Texas has come and gone again. I am sure many people will have memories to last for quite a while. I was very good this year. My stomach would just not tolerate ANY drinking this year, and actually lost about 5 lbs from not being hungry, is this a new diet craze? I took several new people to LUEY, (ah, that would be VIRGINS). So was good to be sober and in control. While I didn't play and make a fool of myself,(what goes on OUT of town, STAYS OUT of town)I did meet some old friends, made some new ones, and think i opened the eyes of some of the VIRGINS that different people can party together ,wearing all sorts of things, and still have fun.
I would really have liked to be outside my body when i was conversing with a dear friend who is Very Cowboyish, and a HOT LEATHER DADDY at the RIPCORD on Saturday. I was in HOG HEAVEN, best of both worlds, I really believe my cowboy didnt believe that someone in Leather and piercings could speak so lucidly and so well on so many subjects. I have always been one to have Friends from all areas and enjoy bringing them together. Now that does not mean that these different factions will become CLOSE friends themselves, but it is good to see someone learn about something they thought they had no interest in. Funny thing is the first time i saw the Leather man several years ago, he swooped into the Ripcord in FULL cowboy Gear, heavy Western chaps, western vest, kerchief, and cowboy hat, smoking the largest cigar he could find. Made my heart go pitter patter. LOL.
Also met some members of the Houston NLA who are working very hard to rebuild their group after several years of turmoil. ON HOT SIR, even showed some INTEREST in Me, and my electric nipples, LOL. I think I need to get back to Houston SOON.
I almost forgot I also got to meet wooferstl from LJ. He seemed to be having a good time. hehehe.

9:55 pm - Friends
|
I was remiss the other day in saying that I only had one Valentines Day expression. I hate to admit it but I am guilty of taking my friends for granted. They are there thru thick and thin, so I just forget that they are not just an extension of ME, they are Individuals too. I don't call as often as I should, and I don't say Thank You often enough for them being there. It's not that I don't have them in my mind and heart , its just I need to express my gratitude more often.
I did receive well wishes from a dear friend. To tell you how Dear he is, We have a understanding that if neither of us is involved with someone else in June of 2012 we will tie a REAL knot. Most of our friends already think we are connected to each other, where you find one you find the other. hehe.
So I wish to say THANK YOU to ALL my LJ friends, My FAMILY of Choice. I am grateful each and every day that I know you.
Hugs

10:00 am - Post Valentines Day
|
Ahhh, Have been reading all the wonderful posts about the wonderful Valentines day that so many people had. Finding Cards and Gifts and special dinners. Being in LOVE with LOVE is a good thing.
I myself received a very special note from a Dear Friend who I fantasized about having a Romantic relationship with. As is usual in my relationships He has become a best bud and I have become what he affectionately calls his "Wing Man". He reassured me of his friendship and how I had added to his life. Funny what a little thing like that does for your self esteem.
While everyone else was enjoying a Heartwarming evening, I was also spending a heart warming evening WORKING. As you might know I am a massage therapist and last night the two of us, in the shop I work, did couple massages. We had two couples come in one was a couple of Gay Lovers who were spending a day of beauty ,they had just come from having a body wrap and facials, and then the massages and off to dinner. They seemed to enjoy the pampering we were able to provide. (those who are wondering.... NOPE no happy endings.
The second couple was a newlywed couple both were 25. He was from Argentina, a motor cross competitor,DJ,and a Banker. Very Straight man who enjoyed being rubbed. He was very comfortable and strangest thing was that as much stress you would expect in his life , he only had one small knot in his neck. The rest of him was taught, but not at all what I expected to find. He was most enjoyable to work on. I learned a lot in a small amount of time. His Wife on the other hand was a school teacher and had major knots I am told. They left with her wondering what was next in store for their Valentines outing. Mr Argentina was taking her to a new Chocolate shop down in the HOOD, for chocolates and wine tasting. Young love is a good thing.
It is good to read of all the nice times my friends have, so much of the time in our little worlds all we see or hear about is the bad times. So I lift up my glass to you all "Here is to LOVE,whatever form it takes,CHEERS!!!!

9:32 pm - A new day is coming.
|
Well the dreaded annual physical is upon me once again. While over all I'm in good health its time to get things checked out. Rx re written. The last two visits the Doctor has been concerned with my blood sugar levels, So I have a feeling if they are still on the high side that he will declare that I am Diabetic and force me to do something about it. Diabetes runs in my mothers family, My grandmother , mother and her two brothers all were diabetic by the time they were 50. I am a little early on the scale but that's my lot in life. I know that I'm about 25 lbs over weight and that if I was able to motivate myself to loose that that I might put it off. Maybe this will be the motivation I need ( that and a taskmaster to flog me instead of eating that donut). Two weeks without a drink at all, hopefully that will show up as a plus in my blood work, hehe.
Also will chat about changing my blood pressure med's , the one I'm on doesn't seem to keep my pressure down as well as it should, and has a nasty side effect of E.D. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. I don't think he will prescribe any of the current drugs to fix this, as he thinks that will only get me in trouble, since I'm gay. I know I could switch to a gay friendlier Dr. but have been with this Dr since I was a teenager,he knows me inside and out. Rough getting older, but sure beats the alternative. Ya know 48 isn't bad. Its still a few weeks away but, already getting into the swing of it. I still look at other people I meet who are my age or older and think, DAMN I do look good for my age. LOL, guess I need new glasses next .
